Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
